I figure its fast enough. No need for a mtb tire on champagne gravel. Plus I can corner on rails with them. I will take the slightly lower rolling resistance. I did the Highlands Gravel Classic. Bunch of guys running MTB tires in the front group. I would just let them gap me on the hills. Even with the 2.2 mtb tires, I could still catch and drop all of them on the descents.
Runing E13 9-45t cassette. 46t chainring on a crux with shallow wheels cause I am broke lol.
Headed to Steamboat from the front range tomorrow morning. Pre-riding Cow Creek either solo or with the TGIF crew if I can make in time. Wearing a light blue jersey and riding a now obsolete matte black Crux. Hope everyone has a good race!
Just received notice we will receive an update, at 5AM tomorrow morning, regarding the race status with the air quality. It’s amazing how fast the skies changed here. Earlier today, it was very windy, and this must’ve been keeping the fire smoke away and the skies nice and blue (as of 3-4:00PM). As of 7:30PM (local Steamboat time), it has become very hazy outside. It is smoke from fires in Fruita, CO
