Anybody know what the heck is going on here? Kashima on a SID:
I should clarify this was on Victor Koretzky’s bike
So Kashima is a specific proprietary hard coat anodizing process which is owned by some metallurgical company and licensed to Fox. This probably isn’t Kashima because I would guess Fox’s licensing agreement is exclusive within the bike industry, it’s probably some other anodizing which happens to be gold.
That being said, I’m surprised RockShox is doing this considering that the gold stanchions are so ubiquitously associated with Fox in consumers’ minds
RockShox was doing “gold” titanium nitride coatings back in the early 2000s (even before Fox’s Kashima).
Not sure if these may come to market or if they are just for their World Champ golds
That was my sentiment. Whatever we’re calling it, this neighborhood of color is associated with Fox. Looks bizarre on a RS. At least to me.
Part of me wondered if this was a form of the rider wanting to ride their preferred suspension and just slapping some stickers (and a nonfunctioning FA module) on a Fox but Koretzky’s been riding the SID all year.
I didnt realize that. Still weird to me for reasons stated above.
Definitely a SID and not a rebadged Fox. RS has been providing their downhill riders with gold Boxxers this year as well and those stand out even more!
