I think you may be right about the spring pressure…I just tossed the pods in there straight from the package and there is surely some PSI difference between them.
How would you recommend placing the four pods if I removed two - all in the back, or one pair in the back and one pair up front?
Thanks for your input on the whole design…was very helpful!!
I’d have one pair under the trainer legs, and another pair about in the middle (front to back).
Glad to see it come together and be a great start. As usual, these take some tweaking to get in service, but will be solid once you dial in the pressures and positions of the pods.
After dinner added some PSI to the pods and that seemed to make a big difference…seemed to balance everything out a bit and I even returned the bike to the center of the rocker. The lack of return was significantly eliminated.
Rain in the forecast and Antelope +5 on the calendar tomorrow…will report back after the ride!!
Some very cool stuff in his YT channel prior to and around this version. I know many people say they don’t want a “simulation” for inside, but this sure is interesting. May be like rollers with training wheels in a way. All about blending function and feel. I’m sure it’s something that would be very expensive, but it’s just awesome to see something like this in testing.
Me want. This looks head and shoulders above anything that is out their now. Hopefully this will actually get manufactured at a reasonable price, and it will push other manufacturers to up their game.
This is really cool! It’s actually what I was thinking in our discussion on the Saris mp1. It seems more natural. Looking forward to more designs like this. Maybe even your own version with your experience. I’m sure it would be awesome
I can manufacture the system for $599-$699 retail. I would prefer to make a complete system such as a smartbike. This would make platform truly feel as one. I would say that the complete smartbike could be made to retail in the area of $2300 perhaps even less.
Would the current design work with a Kickr, given that the Kickr is so heavily weighted towards the left side?
My thoughts on the complete smartbike vs. rocker plate: go with the rocker plate. There are so many people who already have smart trainers you could sell the rocker plate to today, especially at $599 - $699 retail. A complete system at $2300 is a smaller market.
I like the idea of a smart bike but don’t think I’ll ever justify the price. Already have a trainer so would rather get something that just adds to what I currently have.
Plus going by how other trainers seem to have issues I’d rather have the devices be completely independent
