Do you currently have a mix of 2.4 and 5ghz wireless clients? If so, can they communicate with each other? If yes then the tablet should be able to communicate with the new Kickr and most likely the PC too.
Things that would block communication between wireless clients using different frequency bands would be having different SSIDs for each, i.e., your 2.4ghz network is called home 1 and the 5ghz network is called home 2. Even if they have the same SSID most routers and APs have settings that allow you to isolate wireless clients using the same SSID and also allow you to isolate wireless clients from wired devices on the LAN. Conversely they usually also have settings to allow communication between clients with different SSIDs in different bands.
If your 2.4 and 5ghz SSID have the same name then most likely the new Kickr will see the PC and tablet but if not it will most likely just be a case of changing some of your wireless settings until it works.
So i currently have things set to say Home 1 (2.4ghz) and Home 2 (5ghz). I initially split them to try solve some of the drop out issues i was having with the Kickr '16 per TRâs support and it did help initially.
I have a wireless camera and some rgb lighting that can only run on 2.4ghz hooked up to âHome 1â then everything else like tablets, phones, TVâs are on âHome 2â.
I guess iâll just have to connect it all up and see what happens and like you say, go tinkering with the settings if needed. I could always stick the tablet on the 2.4ghz as i solely use it for TR anyway, but was hoping to use my PC so i can splitscreen it on the TV
Depending on what wireless settings you have it should be possible to make it work with your current setup, assuming it doesnât work as is.
I assume youâre using wireless just on your router and not with the powerline adapters? Check your wireless settings for Isolate LAN & Isolate Member settings, both of which should be off, and for something along the lines of Isolate 2.4ghz and 5ghz Bands, which should be disabled. Youâll need to check these settings for both 2.4 and 5ghz bands.
Getting rid of 2.4ghz solved all my pain cave dropout problems. Ant+ and bluetooth also run on 2.4ghz. After switching all my devices (phone, tablet, Garmin), the dropouts went away.
Ps, if anyone is trying to update the firmware with an Android 13 samsung, you need to do it on either not a Samsung or an android on a lower firmware version for the update to work. Took me some time to figure that out then i found the article on wahoo support
