MTB Geometry & Suspension Discussion

I’d be rather surprised if someone couldn’t tell the difference between a 7 and 9.8 Top Fuel, there are so many easily notable changes that exist in a bike.

The point I’m going for is if you look at the geometry the Tallboy at 120mm is more in line with the 165mm Megatower (especially when you start adjusting for sag) than the 115m Blur. (Not as familiar with the Trek trail bikes geo). They’ll all be comfortable up and down 95% of all trails, with the 27lb-130mm range being faster/more reactive up the hill and the 35lb-160 being faster/more planted down the hill. As much as there are obvious differences, you’ll see a huge range of bikes riding the same trails.

Seriously.

Except back then we thought gravel WAS mtb.

Onto the original topic:

Digressive Vs Linear tunes for flex stay bikes with relatively high AS?

My gut says revalving my DPS to linear would be a success - as I have a remote lockout.

If I had to guess, they don’t just straight up say “this fork will fit 2.4” tires" because true tire size can vary wildly from the manufacturer stated width depending on knob size, wheel internal width, pressure, tire stretch, etc.

But yeah kinda silly that they don’t make that info a bit more available in some form.

Do you reckon it’s necessary any more though. Eg my 34SC fits a 2.4” Minion with heaaaps of clearance, would anybody realistically go bigger than that on an XC/DC fork?

Necessary for performance? Probably not.

But I’m sure there are still a fair amount of people who want to try to whole plus size thing and want to know if they can fit a 27.5x2.8 in there.
