The term “Midwest” far outdates the current geographical layout of the US. Don’t expect any logical alignment because a lot of those didn’t exist when the term started being used.
That is the correct map!!
what are the Dakotas, Nebraska, and Kansas then?
A wasteland? I mean even Kansas City wants to be in Missouri…
The Great Plains
I disagree, ‘Great Plains’, just like ‘Great Lakes’ isn’t a region. See my above post as to what qualifies as a region.
Meh…I don’t really care what you call that area, just as long as you don’t call it the Midwest!!
Like I said, Wasteland, we can just give them to Canada.
Maybe this thread should be re-named “What states are considered Midwest” or “Let’s debate about nothing”. At the very least, the word Events should be taken out since 90% of the chatter is not about events. Or it could just be called “2025 Events in Flyover Country” so as not to trigger anyone’s delicate Midwest sensibilities? I’m from the Midwest, I live in the Midwest. I definitely consider NE, MO, and KS to be midwest. Great, now you’ve sucked me in too.
You new here? This has been the SOP for the last 3-4 years for this thread! It’s tradition at this point!
Ha, no…I’ve been reading it for a couple years. It’s just that you finally broke me. What’s next? Shall we debate whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie while we’re at it?
It is a Christmas movie. Is anyone doing Snow Angel in Michigan? I was going to but a family event popped up, but I am wondering how it is.
what is there to debate about Die Hard?
Think I might sign up for this weekend’s Triple D in Dubuque. Usually it’s best suited for Fatbikes(which I don’t have or want) but this year we have no snow so could likely get by on a MTB or Gravel bike.
I dont think we should change this thread at all - I like all the bantering with a sprinkle of what all my fellow midwestern people are riding/racing.
Die hard is clearly a Christmas movie.
Last minute change in plans. I’ll be doing Snow Angel with my son. It will be his first event of any kind.
