I have 5 bikes (XC mtb, enduro mtb, gravel bike, road bike, triathlon bike) + an indoor trainer. I don’t have a power meter on all of them and I can’t be bothered to move my power meter pedals around every time I ride.
I’m not sure how to incorporate activities that don’t have power meters, and how they might affect my training plan. Should I be recording my rides with just heart rate? Also, my heart rate is usually pegged when I’m downhilling on my enduro mtb. I also do a lot of hike a bikes with my enduro bike. How does having a high heart rate without pedaling affect my training plan? Should I only record the climbs and omit the DH section? or just omit the ride entirely from Trainer Road?
That’s interesting. Do I need to enter my max HR myself or can TR determine it from all my many uploaded rides that include HR? I just looked and it already has a max HR shown. IDK if I entered it in the distant past or if TR found it itself.
OK. Max HR is a tricky thing. In the past, the only time I hit it was in competitive situations with multiple closely spaced surges. Outside of that, the max I’d hit was 5 bpm or more less. It’s been years since I’ve done any rides that would get me to my true cycling max. I’ll put in a guesstimate.
