Is my chainring worn? Chain dropping/slipping under high torque

Sounds like either a setup issue or a worn chainring - presumably the small ring, which is unusual for most people to wear out first. Maybe you’ve already swapped the big ring though…

It’s the big ring which is slipping under high torque

Ah in that case that’s normal, especially if you’ve let the chain go a bit far. It often ends in a big crash so at least that didn’t happen to you!

Very worn

The chain that did that must have gone to well over 1% wear!

I swear it’s still within limits of the sram flat top chain checker🫤

Try with vernier calipers, this is what I’ve got saved as advice from ZFC on checking chains that normal chain checkers aren’t calibrated for:

With chain around mid cassette to put some tension in to bottom span of chain, measure from the START of one pin to the START of the 10th pin (10 links).

Each link is 12.7mm (axs road is still a ½ inch pitch chain). 10 links = 127mm,

Your wear limit is 0.5%, so that is 127+ (127*0.005) = 127.635mm – I round that down to 127.5mm to be a) safe and b) easy.

Since you’ve changed the cassette, chain, I’d look at the cables next, it could be a sticky one and you might get lucky and lube fixes it rather than a full inner and outer replacement. Another thing I’ve had in the past is the rear derailleur not spring back enough to keep the chain taught, lube might fix that too.

I don’t know whether or not this related, either caused by the drop or cause if the drops but today I was doing sprints on the kickr and had drops again then suddenly I noticed the cage dangling and the chain wouldn’t go to the big ring. Upon inspection the pivot pin was gone, which should have been held into place by 2 c-clips, upon further inspection another c-clip (lower left in picture) was also missing. I looked around but I couldn’t find any clips on the floor. Went to the bike shop but they didn’t have any either then for a long shot I went to the RC shop which fortunately did have some
