Is it time for me to get a coach?

This could be a massive over-simplification…. but it looks like you were making consistent progress until the ratio of “TR” (dark green) to “Other” (light green) dropped pretty drastically? Were your “other” rides still structured training?

Thank you for your comment. Likey I am just inpatient, but it does feel like I have feathered around a 300 ftp for over a year. That said, maybe the slowdown is just part of the process that I need to settle into. I certainly do struggle to take time completely off. That said, I do try to have recovery weeks with decreased TSS on the bike.

I’ll definitely give your article a read. Thank you for sharing.

Oh man, 1200 hours over the last two years certainly doesn’t feel like noob gains and certainly feels like they were hard-fought gains.

I think what you are seeing there is just the change from indoor to outdoor riding with the seasons. During the summer months, I will almost always do my long endurance rides outdoors, while in the winter, I primarily do those indoors. Outdoors is seldom as well-structured as indoors. Even if it is intended to be structured. That said, it’s definitely better for sanity, and the right outdoor riding is great for race/pack dynamic training.

I think a lot of it comes down to who u hire as a coach. You could probably hire a coach and love it. No problems, boom 50 extra watts. Or you could hire a coach and just sit at your fitness level. Each person is different. So is each coach. Both can be great coaches and simply not work well with who you are. The same can go for trainer road. It may be that their software works great for you. But for me it may be terrible. I may be better off with a different AI plan.
