As part of my ongoing efforts to improve my new aero testing service, https://wind-tunnel.ai, (I’m Eric Semianczuk, the founder) which uses the latest in AI and tech to go from a single video of a cyclist to a full on CFD Aero drag test I wasn’t satisfied with just snapping screenshots and whipping up a PDF for the result, so I coded my own viewer!
The Frontend guy hasn’t touched it yet, and it’s just hosted on a Netlify service (drag and drop free tier hosting, convenient! So it’s going to look a lot better soon with branding, proper URL, etc, but I thought it was cool enough to share.
So, what is it? It’s the end result from Open Foam, industry standard CFD software, and Paraview, exported and made interactive online with interactive graphs that interpolate between three wind speed tests at 11 yaws a piece (33 CFD tests for just one test).
The coloring is from 0 (blue) to around 16 (dark red) m/s (wind speed/magnitude), the lines (stream tracers) showcase where the wind is traveling and interacting with the model.
The idea is, for each test we perform we’re going to update from handing out a PDF with results to hosting individual private links to this custom viewer showcasing customer’s models/results, we feel fitters and regular customers alike would love this!
As it’s only around 10mb of data per scene, it’s easy to host, and can be automatically built as part of the aero testing pipeline (the PDF we offer currently takes some manual effort to put together properly).
In any case, if anyone has any thoughts or feedback let me know!
