Yes, although I did not grow up on CTL, so I don’t know my ramp rates and the like.
Just so I’m clear: your original claim is that CTL is better at measuring consistency than kJs? That was the thrust of your point, correct?
To the extent that your overall training load is an indicator of consistency, yes.
Same with Inigo San Millan although one exception is noted in the article by the authors (not ISM). Everyone keeps debating it anyways though. If we go back to the OP post, which is a common thing, probably the first 2 hour ride on day 1 was slightly too hard, making the second 2 hour ride on day 2 out of reach. If the goal was to accumulate time in z2 without causing significant stress/fatigue, probably would have been better off adjusting day 1 down slightly and day 2 down slightly. Some experts also say that riding 70% of FTP as a zone 2 ride and/or right at aerobic threshold HR is more of an occasional thing and not sustainable for all zone 2 rides. I personally decrease TR endurance workouts by 5 or 10% to a pace that is comfortable and keeps me a few beats below my aerobic threshold most of the time. Threshold is somewhere around 137 bpm; I like to ride at high 120s, low 130s. I can sustain this for at least 3 hours, multiple days in a row and not need much recovery before a harder workout.
That’s precise.
Same numbers and feeling here as well. ~185w and 130bpm is sustainable day after day. Riding at upper limit makes things a bit harder, not unbearable, but I can feel the fatigue settling in.
