i’m shipping my gravel bike in a Evoc travel bag pro. I’d love to put my helmet in with the bike so i dont have to pack it in my carry on luggage. have people done this?, is it safe to have the helmet in with the bike. I was thinking i’d wedge it in the frame with towels??
I put my helmet in the softbag it came with along with my sunglasses and other small items. I then wedge it into the rear triangle. It’s been around the world like this, no issues.
I normally stick my helmet in the bike bag, down near the cranks on its side. I figure if the bag gets squashed enough to damage the helmet, I probably need to give the bike a very close check to see if it is also damaged as the cranks are wider than the helmet
For sure, I just travelled a few days ago with my helmet in my bike bag. Depending on how it was packed in a suitcase it would be just as vulnerable, and either way it should be fine if you are a little careful how it’s packed.
I’ve done it many times. I have a padded case for it and it kinda fits in below the downtube.
I don’t out in a bag, just clip it to backpack and wear it on to the plane so it doesn’t hit people. Can’t get damaged that way, and it’s funny to see people’s reactions to wearing a helmet onto the plane.
The helmet will get knocked about that way. No good at all.
