Gravel Front Tire Width

I’m looking for people to share their experiences with different tire sizes (F/R) on their gravel bike. I was thinking of doing a F48/R44, but I’m not certain how it would feel with a larger tire up front like that. I don’t want the handling to become too monster truck, but like the idea of a little more compliance up front. I’m assuming the drawback would be slightly less responsive steering?

Any experience shared would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

I’m riding gravel on my CX bike, and opted for 35 rear and 40 front (the largest that would fit in each position). Looks funny, but handles fine. The wider front does buy a little extra comfort and control.

Also been experimenting with a 2.1 thunder Burt on the front, a 48mm tofu thundero on the back. No adverse issues, rides and handles fine.
