Gravel / Cyclocross Crossover Options in 2026

Are there any obvious options that fit the bill in 2026 that would handle well in a cyclocross race but also be a little more comfortable for longer gravel rides (decent tyre clearance is my main consideration rather than geometry specifically)?

I was almost set on the Crux 5 before I realised it had taken an even larger departure towards all out gravel even over the 2022 version. I suppose I might still be able to find a Crux 4, but maybe there’s a better option altogether.

Its geo works well for CX, but it also fits big tires.

The adjustable rear end is a nice touch for going back and forth between the two.

With that being said, I think I’m in the minority when it comes to carbon vs. metal bikes. :innocent:

It’s a fine looking steed! I’ll admit I did have in mind something a little more race orientated, and the fact I’m in the UK probably makes it less straightforward, but it’s a nice bike.

crux aluminum is still the old geo I think? And good for up to 47mm tires.

I’ve been using an Ibis Hakka MX primarily for cross the past 6 years and have been very happy, and use a wheelset with Maxxis Ramblers for gravel in the summer without any problems (my max is usually 40-50 miles, so can’t say much about longer than that). Max official clearance is 40 (which is what I run), but could definitely go a little bigger.

Cannondale SuperX has barely changed its geometry since before it changed its name to the SuperSix Evo CX/SE and then back again.

Check out the latest Cannondale SuperX if you want something that still handles like a pure cross bike

I think this might be exactly what I’m looking for, thanks! Cannondale even list it under both Cyclocross and Gravel sections on their website… That might just be marketing, but it’s working!

I like the lauf seigla rigid for cross, but my preference is for a slightly more stable bike. You can’t go wrong with the cannondale geo if that tire clearance works for you. I had one before the lauf and I don’t think the geo is that different, and I like the tire clearance. The original superx was probably the best pure cx bike made.

Don’t sleep on the Giant TCX. Doesn’t have great tire clearance for gravel, but priced well and is a legit cross bike.

They can be a son of b to get a hold of though.

Personally, I would chase down a Crux 4…

The TCX was on top of my list to get while I was looking for something more snappy/cx than my Revolt. Can run 45s pretty easy.

I still race gravel with my 2019 CruX. The geo is fine for me and the races I do, my tire combo of 45/40 hasn’t held me back.

But yeah, TCX or the superx
