Agree that ergonomics need to be considered. When I got my road bike, I looked at both Shimano and SRAM electronic shifting options. Hated that Shimano shift logic and process, the SRAM felt totally intuitive to me. Same way I instinctively know where all the buttons are on a Nikon, but Canon ergonomics annoy me.
Sometimes it’s not about “better” but rather about “what fits me better”.

Agree that using right/left paddles to shift up and down makes more sense. That’s why I programmed my shimano buttons to work that way the day I installed it. I’m not a big fan of both buttons for a front ring shift, so I’m glad shimano has the little paddles for that. They are both good group sets, the primary difference is wired vs wireless.
I still prefer the feel of mechanical shifting over electronic…but the hoods for mechanical / hydro brifters are just so damn big. I swapped out my Ultegra mechanical for FSA WE about 3 months ago…ergo is SO much better (the FSA hoods are ridiculously comfortable).
If undecided between two options, let ergonomics sway the decision.
