Cycling shoes, do you splurge on shoes, favorite shoe and how much if you want to divulge

Is it just me or does that link to dirt bike boot reviews? They might be a bit heavy for road racing and I’m not sure they would be SPD-SL compatible. But they sure would handle a crash well.
