Carbon Wheels without Carbon Brake Pads - Bad Idea?

The biggest no-no for carbon wheels is using ANY pads that have previously been used on metal wheels. Small bits of metal will be embedded in the pads and will tear up the carbon as soon as you use them. This is true even for brake pads that are meant for carbon. When you switch wheels you should switch pads. Somebody will inevitably chime in that they didn’t swap and it was fine, but it’s like playing Russian roulette.

Also, pads not designed for carbon may melt or cause other issues. This of course depends on how hard you stress the brakes
