Broken collarbone - impact on fitness

Last Tuesday, i.e. 8 days ago I was fat biking in Norway and got onto some ice in very windy and gusty conditions. Short story: I got dumped onto the deck by the wind and broke my collarbone  The big bummer was that I couldnā€™t do the race (a ā€˜cā€™ race in my training plan) on the Saturday.

Just got back from the hospital here in the UK and according to the specialist in the bone fracture clinic the bone is already healing as pressure at the breakpoint doesnā€™t hurt. Thereā€™s still a mass of highly colourful bruising and some general aching in the shoulder area though. Currently I get tired through the day as my body is trying to use as much energy as possible to repair itself - I had a two hour nap yesterday afternoon for example. Once that behaviour goes away I should be fine.

Another week or so and Iā€™ll do a couple of workouts per week on the trainer just to limit the loss of fitness.
