I have been happy with Jabra Elite 65t active
4 hours battery life seems like a deal breaker. I would imagine that might get less over time and it’s already not long enough for an indoor century or something similar.
could not agree more…I accidentally left them in my jersey when they went through the wash cycle. Still works!
yea, this washing machine sh–t happens sometimes glad that your buds are still alive
I have extreme problems with signal dropout with the phone in my back pocket. I have to put the phone on the same side as the earbud and the screen must face out or it’s un-listenable. You don’t have this issue?
I was going to raise this use case - - heavy sweating. I only ever tried indoors and I chose to get a sound bar in stead. Another possibility would be those that work through your bones, without being inserted. I’ve not met anyone that uses these outdoors yet.
I’d forgotten this thread! As it was I lost one of the buds out on a ride so I bit the bullet and invested in some Sony WF1000 XM4"s. They work perfectly indoors even when sweating and outdoors in the rain they are fine. The only issue I had with them was I got caught in a hailstorm and that played havoc with the touch sensitive controls!
I had a couple of pairs of cambridge Audio Melomania which sounded great but kept falling out of my ears when running - the microphone on them was also very poor.
I’m now using a pair of Google Pixel Buds which I fully recommend - but i miss all the extra controls on the melomania - especially when i’m using them connected directly to my garmin watch because you cant even use the voice controls.
In terms of staying in place and comfort the Pixel Buds are by far the best I’ve found for my ears - mine are the “A-series” not the pro.
Any one see/try the new Sennheiser Momentum Sport buds? They have an integrated heart rate and a temp sensor built in. apparently partners with Polar and pairs with Garmin, polar and Strava.

Wouldn’t put much faith in that HR tracking …
yea, curious of the accuracy of both, but you have to think if they partnered with Polar it should have some semblance of accuracy for at least the HR. Also, since its not an optical sensor like a lot of smart watches you gotta think its relatively accurate. DC rainmaker has reviewed these!(i gues i need to do a simple search:) Sennheiser Momentum Sport Earbuds with Heart Rate & Body Temperature Tracking
Apple AirPods Pro 2.
You can get them for $160 on sale.
I’ve tried them all and because I’m a heavy sweater, they don’t last long. Usually 6-12 months and even with warranty, they send you a refurbished one after getting through to customer service.
What I like about them:
-integration with Siri is fantastic. Music and podcast and call management is great by just talking to Siri.
-the charging connections are not in the ear and away from the sweat.
-noise cancellation is really great.
-speaker quality is also great.
-2 yr AppleCare is 27$ and when it breaks I just take them to Apple Store and come out with a new one.
Still Jabra Elite for me.
I haven’t shopped around though, apart from terrible HRM have their been any significant developments in earbud tech in the last few years?
I’m still using Jabra Elite 65 5 years later and they haven’t failed yet. Battery life is getting worse but they have done well. They have been replaced with a new model now so hopefully they are still good.
Very happy with my Anker Soundcore X10’s - ear hook, active noise cancellation, transparency mode. Still going strong after 18 months, no issues charging them unlike some other buds I’ve owned.
I like Jabra as well. I’ve heard they’re exiting the consumer market though. If that’s true probably need to get them while you can.
Do you guys really find the value in $150-200 earbuds?
On my trainer, I’m still using a $35 pair of generic earbuds I got from Amazon five years ago. They don’t even make them anymore. Because the rubber ear piece plugs into the ear canal they do a great job of keeping out trainer and fan noise. They are also the type where the buds are attached with a tether so you can’t lose one.
I look at Jabra and wonder how they stay in one’s ear. It appears to be 100% the friction of the little silcone tip sticking in the ear canal.
FYI, these Jabra Elites are on sale:
My goto headphone is usually some Aftershokz but they don’t drown out fan and trainer noise so I use the cheap earbuds when on the trainer.
I can’t go back once I’ve experienced noise cancelling AirPods. It’s such a big improvement. I did have to swap out the rubber tips with some Amazon ones as they kept falling out of my ears.
I got mine for £120 two years ago, and used them every night for sleeping, and every few days for running training and work.
So if I only used them a few times a week on an indoor trainer I would definitely not buy them,
I’m not having good results with my aftershokz as they’re not loud enough and make for a lot of wind noise. I’d be interested in a set of earbuds that not only have good/clear pass through/transparent listening but also don’t make for extra wind noise or at least minimal. I have a pair of bose quiet comforts that sound great and have decent pass through but even just walking the dogs on a day with light wind they make a ton of wind noise. The one thing that DCrainmaker said about the silly sporty senheiser buds with the heart rate and body temp was that they had great wind cancelation. Any other buds good for that?
