Best racing XC MTB on C2W scheme

If I want to get a race ready MTB for C2W money (£1000). What would be your recommendations?

You’d be best looking at a decent hardtail. Something like a Giant Fathom 29er or something similar from another brand.

You can get a 2-3 year old $6000 hardtail used and it’ll be 8-10lbs lighter and much better components than a new one.

A second hand Hard tail or a new Grand Canyon AL.
