exactly, so much equipment will need replacing - thats why the industry will push it regardless of whether its the best thing for most riders.
except even the industry may find it backfires on them if they get left with surplus stock they can’t shift but as we’ve seen, they are not good at recognising this
That Scott is the first 32er that I’ve thought “wow that looks sexy.” I haven’t been that fond of the geometry for most that I’ve seen, but that Scott looks pretty awesome.
Looks like it can roll over anything, monster truck vibes. Just what I like in my gravel race bike.
I’m hoping Scott might have it on display at the expo, I guess it depends on how much they want it to blow up vs keep it under wraps. This has got to be the biggest “release” at unbound, even though it’s not really a release.
Toe overlap is really only an issue at low speeds. So probably a trade off people are willing to make in order to go fast.
Agree on suspension. The geometry of 32” wheels gets more challenging as you add suspension. I think 32” will make most sense for gravel, hard tail MTBs, and short travel full sus race bikes - and generally only for taller riders as you go along that spectrum.
Will it though? Or will it be that a guy won it twice in a row, once on 700 and once on 32? I’d be much more apt to think it was the bike if someone like Cole Paton did it on a 32er. I think 32 will be great for gravel, but Cam is already awesome and if he doesn’t win, it won’t be because of the bike either. It will be because Unbound is such a crap-shoot of a race and so many things can go wrong or right on the day.
