32in Wheels. Its coming weather you like it or not. So Pick a tire size and be a jerk about it

exactly, so much equipment will need replacing - thats why the industry will push it regardless of whether its the best thing for most riders.

except even the industry may find it backfires on them if they get left with surplus stock they can’t shift but as we’ve seen, they are not good at recognising this

Nearing production fork and the 32" Ricks..

They lost me with the drop stem and riser bars. Boooo!

Cycling Weekly on Cam Jones’ new prototype bike: https://www.cyclingweekly.com/gravel/cam-jones-to-race-32-inch-protoype-bike-at-unbound.

Sick.

Is it wrong that I think 32 looks amazing.

That Scott is the first 32er that I’ve thought “wow that looks sexy.” I haven’t been that fond of the geometry for most that I’ve seen, but that Scott looks pretty awesome.

Looks like a tank.

Looks like it can roll over anything, monster truck vibes. Just what I like in my gravel race bike.

I’m hoping Scott might have it on display at the expo, I guess it depends on how much they want it to blow up vs keep it under wraps. This has got to be the biggest “release” at unbound, even though it’s not really a release.

The toe overlap looks problematic and seems like impossible to add front suspension (maybe you don’t need it).

Also, you will get a crazy amount of mud/dirt all up your backside.

First thing I thought. Can’t imagine what it’d be like in smaller sizes.

Toe overlap is really only an issue at low speeds. So probably a trade off people are willing to make in order to go fast.

Agree on suspension. The geometry of 32” wheels gets more challenging as you add suspension. I think 32” will make most sense for gravel, hard tail MTBs, and short travel full sus race bikes - and generally only for taller riders as you go along that spectrum.

That Scott bike looks very futuristic.

I think on gravel they can look pretty cool. Yet to see an MTB looking good. But am sure it will happen.

I am in the market for a new road bike - at least 32 seems to be a non topic there. At the moment at least.

I agree, looks awesome.

This doesn’t look good?!?!?

Just glue up a frame and some extensions on the fork and go for it. It’s an incredible time for material science.

Cam Jones is going to be marked pretty closely this year, BUT if he were to break away again and win…that will be the ultimate marketing push for 32".

Will it though? Or will it be that a guy won it twice in a row, once on 700 and once on 32? I’d be much more apt to think it was the bike if someone like Cole Paton did it on a 32er. I think 32 will be great for gravel, but Cam is already awesome and if he doesn’t win, it won’t be because of the bike either. It will be because Unbound is such a crap-shoot of a race and so many things can go wrong or right on the day.

A big part of it is what you get used to. 29 bikes looked stupid for a while too. Now, 26ers look like clown bikes.
