What rigid post is .95lbs lighter than a fox? Thomson masterpiece?

Looking for a solid XC bike this year. I currently have a Specialized 2018 Camber Comp. Right now I’m looking at a Scott Spark anyone have experience or feedback on the Spark. I don’t want to go below 120 front and rear.

I’ve had mine for a year, what would you like to know?

After swapping between the dropper and a ridged post I ended up saving 0.61 pounds once all parts weighed. The cable housing for the dropper remaining on the bike. I misspoke with the 0.95 lbs, I think I forgot to add back in the weight of the ridged post.

Is the twin lock system as advertised? How does it feel on the trail? Is it nimble and fast? Can it be set up as a smooth plush ride?

I don’t know what you mean by that. I’ve been on a Spark for 6 years so the TwinLoc is natural to me. However, if you aren’t using a 3 way lockout now, there is definitely a learning curve. Also, depending on where you live and/or if you’re adding a dropper post, you may be annoyed with getting used to all the levers. Also worth noting, only the most current Spark allows Flight Attendant, as the previous models (my 2023 ) doesn’t have room inside the frame. They’ve corrected this with a wider opening and larger down tube cover. So if you’re looking to future proof your frame, get the latest model.

It’s a XC race bike influenced by the GOAT of XCO. Of course it’s going to be nimble and fast. It doesn’t feel any less so than my previous 2018 100/100mm Spark. Whether it does to you would depend on what bike you’re coming off of. That being said, it likely would depend on how you set it up.

The 120/120 already feels way more plush than my 100/100. For XCO though I tend to run it quite stiff for efficiency.

That would have been a crazy weight savings lol

Frustratingly I got tom pidcocked on some sniper roots on the first lap of the hardest xc course of the year and snapped my Fox remote lever leaving me on a rigid gravel bike.

Not buying another cheap plastic remote.

My fork and shock are push to unlock, 3 pos, and I have a dropper.

What’s the best/cheapest aftermarket remote that does all 3 - 2022 Twinloc 2?

Bontrager droplock?

I looked into converting the rear shock to lever for weight and simplicity but it would be cheaper to sell the shock and buy a lever one.

These are typically at the opposite ends of the spectrum. If you want cheap, it’s definitely not going to be the best. If you want the best, you’ll have to pay for quality.

Not cheapest but a WolfTooth Remote Centric plus the small Fox remote lockout. Nothing large to get caught.

Super helpful, thanks @MI-XC. Have you considered doing a TED talk?

@speedychix

Doesn’t solve the problem - I want to get rid of the shit fox lever, not buy a new one .

I had a fox where the internal casting for the pivot/machine screw thread broke. At least my system is set to default open instead of default lockout, so it was manageable. Still crappy design or sourcing. if the machine screw went all the way through the casting it would reinforce the casting. as it is the screw goes maybe half way into the casting causing a stress point where the screw ends inside of it.

You’re asking for something that doesn’t exist, so refrain your question that has an actual possible answer . Do you want cheap or best?

Check out Orbeas Squidlock? I have it on my Epic Evo for PTL but the Oiz that’s it’s designed for is PTU so it works well for that. It’s all metal, no plastic and spare parts available.

Anyone have a 100mm Rockshox Reba (or similar 32mm stanchion fork)? What is your set up like and what’s your weight etc.? I haven’t been able to get good small bump compliance out of it.

Right now I have it at 110 psi with no spacers and I am 180 lb. Rebound 8 clicks from closed. Has a surprising amount of support for big hits, but virtually zero small bump performance. Any tips? Maybe it’s lacking good lubrication idk

I hate to say it but tuning my 120 Reba since I purchased my bike and this is just the way this fork is. I hope someone more technical on this aspect can explain why but trying 0-4 spacers, multiple pressures and rebounds and I could never get the fork 100% dialed.

I ultimately ended up with 2 spacers, a lot of slow rebound and around 113psi. I still have trouble with the high/fast speed compression but the fork is pretty good besides that.

I am 190lbs or 213lb down trail weight.

Thanks for the info. I’ll keep iterating on my own fork and see what I can accomplish. Likely nothing. Maybe it needs more oil or something. I’ll probably take it apart in the winter. Was thinking of changing the air spring to 120mm too.

Probably the best XC line up for a test I’ve seen. Hope the videos turn out great.
