And 99.9999% of us don’t need to worry about UCI weight limits…but bike companies continue to let that determine their bike designs. It is just kinda dumb.

Every time I mention the new Domane is on my short list for a new bike, the first reaction is something like “dude that bike is heavy” starting here:

The new Domane is interesting, but know that that is notably heavier than the prior models. Just rolling it around the shop and short rides in the lot show it to have a nice ride, but it is a bit of a beast compared to my Emonda (which I realize is a massive difference). But even when doing a quick side-by-side on the 2019 Domane, the weight is noticeable. I worry that they have taken a previously great bike, and tried to make it too much of everything (comfort, aero, all-road). Comparing to…

and repeated at my LBS (they love the Madone). I’m 10lbs heavier than the (faster) 2017 edition of bbarrera, and thats the only weight I care about dropping.
