2020 Giro d'Italia Discussion

Yeah, just saw that on the news.

Wow. How is everybody else testing negative? Aren’t they living in their team “pod” like they did in the Tour?

Will be interesting to see how / if this progresses into an outbreak within the race…

Yes, I don’t this either on the basis of how easy this virus otherwise seems to spread.

They may well yet start to test positive…plenty of time left in the incubation period.

That was my initial thought too. Lets hope not.

Given the positive test result from Yates…that means tomorrow’s stage (if it happens) very well could decide the winner of the race?

Sensational win from Alex Dowsett today, one for the good guys. So deserved, never been as nervous watching a bike race as I was today. Thoroughly deserved!

Yeah, over the moon for him. He has had such a rough year, results wise - and no contract yet for next year.

And of course a baby on the way.

Hopefully this win will turn the wind for him and help him to get a contract.

Does anyone know if previous stage results stand if the Giro is stopped for Covid or anything rise for that matter?

Sure…why wouldn’t they?

Whether they take the GC standings at the time of any hypothetical suspension as the final GC remains to be seen…and hopefully won’t be seen.

Wonder how the vapid UCI feel about the ugly duckling on the podium?

The UCI fine was not because of the design. It was merely that EF Edu had not filed the change in design on time.

Uh yeah. And we all know how the UCI love to enforce their rules…or not enforce them…whichever way the wind blows on the day.

I resent that comment. I think you’ll find UCI rule enforcement depends on a range of factors, including consulting an astrological chart, whether or not the chief commissaire could visit his mistress, and a complex statistical calculation of how French the offender was :rofl:

I’m not an apologist for the UCI, but it’s pretty clear that Vaughters played them brilliantly - he knew perfectly well that announcing the kit before submitting it to the UCI would get him a fine … and hence a load more PR for EF.

And Palace. :skateboard: :sunglasses:

He’s a student of Gene Simmons.

Speaking of Gene and questionable graphics…
