If I ever spend $140 for a pair of plastic water bottles punch me in the throat.
Haha no kidding.
Iâm pretty sure I only spent $20 CAD each when I ordered them. That looks like classic Amazon mark-up.
the main issue with that design is that it might not be ideal for a bike cage.
Usually cycling bottles have a notch that help them stay in place with most cages.
I thought about that too, but they fit very tight in the cage, no issues with falling out. These bottles are just a hair fatter than normal due to the insulation.
I think cycling does something to the brainâŠwe may analyze stuff to death but cost is not an issue
Was at the LBS which is a Trek store two days ago, and I picked up a 28 ounce / 828ml insulated Voda bottle:

also bought a right side loading cage for the downtube.
Only 1 ride so far, and used it in two cages: Gorilla XT and Bontrager Right Side Load. Started ride at 94F / 34C with some small ice cubes + water. Grabbed the 28oz Voda bottle after an hour in the heat and there was still some ice (not a lot, but still some ice). No leaking from cap, and no water âspurting, geyseringâ out the flow valve when riding over rough pavement (I do get that from Camelbak 24oz Podium Chill).
Overall positive about the Voda 28oz / 828ml bottle.
28 might be a nice sweetspot size. 32/33 oz just seems so heavy and tall.
yes, I felt like the bottle was ânormalâ and just a little taller.
Send me a link, I want to buy those for my grocery store bike! Looks better than my rear panniers ![]()
I use 950 ml bottles from Decathlon. Not 1000 ml but close enough. I just canât see the point of the dinky 750 ml ones.
Anyone tried a dirt/dust/mud cap that you like for off-road riding?
When it gets really muddy and one gets sprayed all over, a clean nozzle can make the difference between fun and misery.
Woah, had not seen these. I assume you mean the van rysel?
I just bought 2 for testing. (cost of one bottle + shipping = 2 bottles + free shipping)
Whatâs the biggest insulated bottle that works well?
Probably the Trek Voda 28oz but I do not (yet) have one. Gatorade 30oz insulated does not fit in cages well. Iâm unaware of others in the â„28oz range.
I have an American flag Trek Voda insulated 28oz in my cart and Daisy the Trek dog keeps emailing me to finish my checkout so she doesnât have to put it back on the shelves.
Nifty marketing almost got me, but still unsubbed. ![]()
Your review has me convinced maybe I should give it a shot.
I bought it on the spot because I havenât seen anything insulated bigger than 24oz (Camelbak Podium Chill).
Iâm just so used to being hard on bottles and things like lids or bottle mouth rims wearing out that pulling the trigger on a $22 bottle is making me second-guess! If I like it a lot, or Michelle does, Iâm going to want more of them, and then Iâm âinâ for 22 bucks a whack when I damage them.
Mine are Elite Maxi Corsa. It actually looks like Decathlon donât do them anymore.
The have a non insulated version for 14âŠ
So the Amazon man rung our doorbell today âŠ
I did a quick squeeze test, and they are by far the most âspringyâ bottles, and the nozzle seems to provide the least resistance. Not surprisingly, the Fly bottles fit perfectly into my Elite bottle cages. The Jet bottle looks a bit ungainly and has a different cap (annoying if you have to manage many different bottles), and the fit is less great. But for the trainer at least, that wonât be an issue.
The negative is the cheap feel. Compared to my Specialized and Camelbak bottles they feel as if they are a run or two below. But for the body of the bottle at least, I reckon the thicker plastic of e. g. my Specialized bottle is also the reason why the latter works worse on the bike.
The construction of the cap could be a negative: it seems more difficult to clean. Iâll try them out tomorrow morning.
