Trying to picture what you mean by “longer clip and the base from the other clip strung around my neck”… Eager to figure out a solution to this myself!
Sorry, I probably didn’t explain that well…..
This was the original clip I tried. The base is fairly wide and sat right on my collarbone when put on the neckline of the suit.
The clip I tried yesterday was like this one….narrow but the clip was longer. So there wasn’t as much of it resting on my collarbone.
What ended up being my preferred solution was the first base, tied to a piece of string that I woe like a pendant under the suit. It let the hose attach lower on my chest and not so high to be near my neck. I’ll post a pic of that later.

How stable is the hydration bladder? Considering using one of these suits for mtb racing. Sounds like people are using them at Leadville and it looks like there’s some long, rough descents there. I find myself not drinking in single track and get behind on my nutrition.
It’s pretty stable after a minute. Sometimes takes a bit to settle and sometimes when it gets low on water you have to sit more upright to get water out. Which is good because it means you drank your water and nutrition!
