Rocker Plates for Trainers

  • Yup, per my guide:

Do a short test ride on the rocker and make sure it feels “right” to you.

  • Sometimes perfectly level may not feel best for everyone. In these cases, make slight adjustments to the spring settings to be ideal for your riding.
  • I think the that aiming for dead level to start is the right goal, but it’s absolutely true that it is not ideal for everyone. In any of those cases, I suggest that people do a final tweak in pressure (more or less in one side) to get what feels “right” to them while riding.
  • That is my uneducated guess. The new motion in both directions can take some time to fully adapt to. Adding in your recovery and symmetry issues sure could add to that.

  • It’s relatively easy to use some blocks to lock lean action and clamps to lock fore-aft motion for some test rides without having to remove the entire trainer & bike from the rocker. You can even test with only one action in use and see if one may be related more than another.
