Road-like Gravel Shoes

Assuming you’re using these with road cleats? How do you find road pedals/cleats for gravel riding?

Another vote for Shimano RX :man_raising_hand:

There’s also the cheaper version, the Terra Powerstrap X4. Lower sole stiffness I guess, but same design except more relaxed colors and weighs ~30g more. I have them but haven’t tested them yet.

S Works Recon Lace shoes go on sale pretty often - I too wanted road-fit-like gravel shoes so ended up with the really bright Recon Laces..

In fit and underfoot they feel really similar to sworks 6 road shoes (maybe a touch narrower). You can also get a more road-shoe feeling by getting SPD pedals with more contact, like the Look ones.

To my surprise I find the lace up uppers to be more comfortable - I think laces really do spread the load of tightening better than dual BOAs

Sorry for missing this: I’m using the gravel 2-bolt version of the shoes w/SPD mtb cleats.

I know you’re asking SpeedyChix, but I thought I’d chime in. In my experience they work as well as they do for road riding. In the large majority of my gravel riding it’s mostly dry granular dirt and I don’t need to dismount, so road pedals/cleats are fine. The only issues I ran into is if I need to walk on gravel/rocky/muddy surfaces, particularly up a steep hill, or put my foot down in sticky mud. In a number of cases I had to sit down and scrape the mud out from around my cleat to be able to clip in. I switched to mtb shoes/cleats for those rides and haven’t bothered to go back to road shoes/cleats as the mtb stuff is working well enough anyway.
