Just as laborious (probably more in fact), you could use FIT File Tools to strip distance entirely for both you and your strava friends. I’ve used fit filetools on an case by case occasion to remove stats (usually stupid power or heart rate spikes). I’d find it simpler to ignore turbo distance myself and use veloviewer to see the split of indoor and outdoor miles. Alternatively and definitely more laborious you could also edit the gps file.
