One bike to rule them all or N+1

No need for this kind of negativity.

Okay okay…when I say “ditched” I may be overstating somewhat. “Retained for spares”.

I keep trying to do this. It worked pretty well with my Canyon Inflite SLX, but modern gravel bikes just have turbo dumb geometry forcing you to use a ludicrous -25 deg stem to get anywhere near a sensible fit for a human being that isn’t a total biomechanical mess.

I was once called a biomechanical mess by a researcher in the area (I was not one of her subjects), maybe I should look into one of these bikes…

Depends who you are as a rider, really. Some people’s one bike solution would be a road bike, personally I love having an XC hardtail. For me half my riding is on trails, then gravel and pavement would be like 25% each. An interval workout on a mtb has the same training effect as on a road bike, and I find it much more comfortable (especially when your local roads are terrible). I use my xc bike for 99% of my rides. Only time I’ve ridden my road bike this year is in one race and then whenever I have to lock it up outside. (my road bike is only worth $300, so I care much less if it’s stolen).

Four centimetres higher at the front. That’s more stack than my 120mm 29er.

“Get a more racey gravel bike”. Ok 3.5cm higher and 3cm LESS seatpost showing. And either choice weighs nearly half a kilo more.

What are they trying to sell me, a static exercise bike at the gym? At least it’ll fit my mum for going to the shops.
