New power meter measuring 20% lower than old power meter

Thats T-shirt meme worthy right there. :+1:

You know this most recent e-racing cheating scandal that Ray Maker posted about today? The one where some guy inflated his power data? It turns out that in some (though not all) cases, the ways that you can tell the data were intentionally inflated can also tell you when a power meter is inflating the data unintentionally.

Yeah, that is a crazy story. I think there would be some cool ways to use power devices in tandem for several reasons.

Tracking for cheats as one, but also comparison data over time and even potential for alerting a user if one or both devices are giving odd results. Identify which one(s) are now tracking oddly and maybe help troubleshoot for things like calibration or other setup issues.

Like Ray mentioned, it sure seems like a worthwhile use case for Zwift to finally integrate directly.

OMG! I went through this early this spring with tire pressure gauges. Which one is right? I pulled all of them out of the drawers and boxes I had stuffed assorted gauges in and tried them on that one tire.

The range was almost 25psi! On a small riding lawn mower tire! 25psi?!?! That’s a heck of a lot of pressure!

I just chose one and use it. It could be right…

I had the first gen Favero (BePros?) for a while before returning them. Due to bad design, the “power pods” were too large, which could result, depending on the design of the soles of your shoes and how your cleats were positioned, in your sole making contact with the pod, which could mess up the numbers. This could be virtually unnoticeable or, in the worst case, result in a pedal coming off mid ride.

No issues with Assioma Duos so far, seems like a solid (and much improved) product.

With the original Favero cleats I got away with it, with spacers but when I replaced them with Keo’s I got a lot of sudden drops. Then it ‘clicked’ the pod was occasionally getting skiffed under float (not really noticeable, apart from the slight rubbing marks). I had to shave off a fraction from my cleat, touch wood the 6year old power pedal is still going strong (lol, stronger than me ).

Thanks @Semi_Matias and @HLaB , I will have to check this out, I’m having a lot of dropped measurements while standing on the new pedals.
