When asked what’s next… Pidcock said in his interview after the last XCO, it was was a long season & he was going on Holiday. Not sure how spicy it is going to be… though I am sure he doesn’t like to lose either.

I imagine he could win with one eye on the surf in California. It must suck though to show up and have every eye on you and every athlete on the starting line looking to “get one over” on him.

I realize as a non-UCI sanctioned event the distinctions aren’t as clear cut and it really doesn’t matter, but I personally would think that Little Sugar falls more in the realm of an XCM than an XCO as it’s 100k.

IIRC, it got to the point where there were just too many people sporting the stripes on their sleeves, so the UCI put a stop to it outside of the discipline in which you won it.

The pro race tomorrow will be spicy. Keegan vs Pidcock and a tough field behind them. A flat could be a game changer for anyone’s day.

Tom Pidcock (aka Jaimie Tartt) is on holiday. He doesn’t even want to be there. The “spice” is going to come down if he wants to try or not.

Women’s race already breaking up……Savilla Blunk also wearing her nat champ jersey. Guess we have our answers re: that question now. Keegan will also t certainly wear his next weekend and Kasia will sport hers.

Men’s lead group now 8 riders….doesn’t look like Pidcock is there.

ETA - Pidcock ~16 min down, reportedly after flat tire. NWA trails are not to be trifled with!

Man, that was a surprisingly slow start.

Would have been nice to see more of the course as if didn’t seem half as technical as it had been described all week by the riders. Obviously it’s very hard to get to the parts that are tricky to film.
