See my post up there ^ somewhere…he swears he was clean in 2009 (not that his word means much), but my guess is that he was using AICAR…gave benefits similar to EPO and helped riders lose weight, but was not on the banned list in 2009. Was reportedly in wide use in the peloton.
If true, then he was technically “clean” but absolutely in violation of the spirit of the rules.
