Anyone race on Titanium bike? Thoughts on doing so?

Good point. My last mountain bike was done in by, well, standards. It was the last of its breed, a 2012 26" fully.

However, road bike standards change more slowly than MTB standards (save for BBs), so your bike will be fine for a while. I hope SRAM’s UDH makes it to the road side, too, because (1) even if you don’t use a rear mech with a UDH direct mount, you can always get a RD hanger. And (2) it will allow for better shifts. The sacrificial part tradeoff is less relevant for road bikes.

I did this recently and love it. It is the bike that I am riding unless I’m mountain biking. It’s also custom geometry, and the fact that it handles so nicely means I don’t really like riding my other bikes. This is the application for ti, and I don’t regret it at all. It makes a good race bike too, as it gets a real good race position as well.
