Time for a training update. It’s been one heck of a week at home and work, so I am going to keep this short and to the point. I started the week with an easy run of 3 miles at a slow 9:20 pace. Felt pretty stiff to start, but after a good fifteen minutes, my legs eased up pretty well.

One of my buddies took a photo of himself training on the trainer the other day and posted it on facebook. I looked at the pic and was curious what the heck was on his computer screen, so I asked him. He mentioned this new software application from TrainerRoad, so I checked it out and really liked what I saw.

Despite being winter and a time for ‘base building’ my felt that it would be better to focus on turning my runners legs into more those of a cyclist and spend the time trying to increase my FTP before hitting the running trail again and trying to run another sub 3hr marathon at London in April.

This software is so revolutionary because you are actually getting coach-quality workouts and immediate feedback about your performance, with minimal cost.

I know I need to be a better cyclist if I'm to achieve anything noteworthy in finishing position and overall time for my up and coming triathlons but one thing that I have routinely failed to be convinced of is the need for and use of a power meter in accelerating my improvement.
