Was in the market for a new trainer as my 4 year old H3 is starting to feel a little rough. I picked up a Core 2 on a black friday deal for $399 with the zwift cog. I do all my TR workouts in zwift primarily in ERG mode except V02 max stuff which I do in resistance mode. Anyone know if while doing a TR workout in Zwift in resistance mode does the virtual shifting work?
In Zwift you’ll be in incline mode (or Erg) when running a workout. Virtual shifting works great!
So while in incline mode you can shift gears like you had a cassette?
In incline mode virtual shifting is used to control the trainer resistance, clarification that during workouts the terrain is not felt.
Perfect…thanks.
Where did u get a new core 2 for $399
That’s a good deal, been wanting to try a Tacx for years, when it’s time to buy new a trainer Wahoo always has a better deal.
I just picked up a second Kickr with the Cog and Click with Wi-Fi connectivity.
I got mine from Backcountry because Im in Reno and it ships from Salt Lake, might get it tomorrow.
Sadly it’s still 899 Canadian.
In your opinion, is it worth upgrading from the Kickr v3 to the Core 2, while on this black friday sale? Been on my Kickr v3 for about 4-5 years I think. Functions fine still, but getting pretty noisy and not running nearly as smooth as it used to. Thinking replacement is inevitable eventually. I did have a Kickr v1 and v2 both go kapoot on me which is how I got the v3 on a warranty replacement from Wahoo. So if the v3 life expectancy is like those, then I’m starting to see indications of end of life. What do you guys think?
I can’t say I’m qualified to answer that. I bought a Snap in 2018 and had three bad units in four months, swore I’d never buy another Wahoo trainer. My H3 has been great, had to replace the belt once but now it feels like a bearing or something is going to go, it just feels rough and feels rougher the higher the wattage is in ERG mode. Seems like Wahoo has got their act together. I couldn’t pass on the $399 deal.
Did the V3 still use the tooth belt? I couldn’t stand the early Kickr’s because of that High pitch noise, like that trainer but could get pass the whine.
The new one’s are quieter and no need to calibrate, that was another thing I remember.
Also with the direct connect via cable or WiFi, if you’re having dropout issues during a ride those help.
