Zipp 303 XPLR Wheelset

you need to SEND IT…

Fwiw, I rode the Slick’s all fall/winter long on relatively chunky gravel (and flat-out MTB conditions) in Mallorca - without a single puncture/death.

Then, last month I did 500KM across Morocco on the INTR, including some rather sharp/spicy stuff at time, also, without any deaths.

However, the single biggest change I made last summer was simply running higher pressures. Been doing ~32PSI in front, and ~33-34PSI in back.

What width tire? That pressure seems very high. I run ~30psi on 40mm tires on 21mm IW rims

The 45’s.

It’s higher, for sure. Recommended from SRAM for my weight/bike is 29 front, 31 rear. But, like most people running that combo, eventually you get sidewall punctures if you stick to SRAM’s recommendations, which seem to skew optimistically lower.

The need to run higher pressure feels like it goes against the whole premise of larger tires / wider inner diameter

100%.

I agree. The biggest reason why I bought fatter internal width rims was to run lower tire pressures.

Zipp said the aero benefit of their wheels was only in the 1-3 watt range for average race speeds.

I got my last road bike because a family member died and I got CASH. I was told recently that I need an e-bike. But I don’t have any more family that could die and give me money, aside for that guy in Nigeria that needs help to move millions out of country, and will give me a cut.

(Meant as a joke)
