WWDD - Disaster Day 2025

Awesome job on WWDD!

16K KM? That’s what, about 10,000 miles!? Damn.

Yeah, most of it’s been very flat & uninterrupted though. Track laps, cycleways, & some rural audax riding. So much easier to clock them up than on city streets or hills. Was going for 18250k for this year (50km per day), but since moving a month ago I’m a bit behind.
It’s a vanity metric, the workouts are more important, but regardless, it’s fun to chase.

that’ll do mate. it’s the suffering that defines Disaster and I can hear the screams by looking at the curve. btw that tss is a total miscalculation on the TR side. Not possible to run it at IF 0.79 and have AP/NP numbers like that and only do TSS 80

Ah, well spotted on the TSS. Sauce for Strava shows 192 over the selection before parkrun (I paused my head unit during this time but stopped the TR app), selecting the entire work period in the TR window gives 204, as does the calendar. RLGL has correctly (according to my expectations) flagged tomorrow as yellow. 192 & 204 I’d say were within tolerance, but 80?.. no.

I found this post late, wishing all participants in WWDD the best of luck, workout looks awesome. :star_struck:

11 Nov 2025

Did this last month as a warmup. Struggled on the threshold, which is a bit unusual for me. Shortened the VO2 intervals and skipped the fireworks

13 Dec 2025

Better on the threshold intervals this time around. Still struggled on the VO2, and skipped most fireworks Ugh!

The fireworks were never going to happen and I got in an ERG mode death spiral at the beginning of each bit after the peaks. I had to stop for a few seconds for the last five. The rest of it went well. Well done to all those who took part. See you back here in 2026

Well done @bazcurtis & @rkoswald! :muscle: Those fireworks are definitely a turning point. For me the first one was “yeah, I got this”, third I’m thinking “uh-oh!” Cruel placement in what’s already a difficult workout.

Well I could have got all my zones + :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Well come on, on yer bike! I know the day’s passed but we’ll still applaud you if you do it.

Everyone who’s done it this time, if it hasn’t crossed your mind yet, please remember to exclude your chosen version of Disaster from Progression levels unless you want your VO2 workouts to be a bit off kilter.

You people are all absolute beasts :fire: I had to make a tough choice between work and play and had to postpone but also didn’t want to completely derail the training block I was about to start but I humbly pledge to the thread I will get it done eventually!

But hang on a second @blmason, what’s the situation with that group ride screenshot in the thread… is that a feature in TR? Like, Zoom but for mutual suffering?

Yes, it’s the Group Workouts feature on the TR desktop app. I only use the app on an Android phone so I couldn’t tell you whether it’s still available or not.

Edit to add: check this out… Live-streamed ramp test group workout by the TR crew:

They’re all smiles at the start. Possibly some of the participants want it to disappear…

Did disaster -2 with a friend using the group workout feature last week. A really nice feature that would be handy on android and ios. A bit of lag going into the intervals that caught me of guard a few times as intervals started 4 seconds early.

Expected it to be easier at the end. Next time we are going for Disaster -1.

Well done! Nice ride

You did a run after this?! :sob:

I did, yes, but it was a lot slower than normal & in retrospect I probably gave up too easily or too soon in the fireworks section.

Is it too soon? :joy:

Never too soon, and that date looks perfect.

I’m in again

Love the plan name
