Started Base 1 today with Newcomb…not hard at all, gave it a 5 on the post ride. Adaptions came through and it changed my thursday workout to Newcomb again. Just dont get it.
If it wasn’t hard at all, why did you rate it a 5? (I don’t know if you’re rating it a 5 in Zwift, which is ‘Slightly Challenging’, or a 5 in TR, which is ‘All Out’, but neither of these ratings would be ‘not hard at all’.)
It was in Zwift…but if I rated it slightly challenging why would it make me do it again? TR AI should see my metrics and see that it wasnt that hard for me. To me, the AI should give a different but similar workout just to keep my attention and not be redundant.
It looks like you switched your post-workout survey response to Easy in order to get a new workout. Is that right?
It looks like all of your workouts have gotten harder now, which isn’t ideal. I’d recommend adjusting your survey response to reflect how the workout actually felt, and I can take a look at the backend to see why you were given the same workout and find you a different one if you’d like.
Bumping up all of your workouts’ intensities probably isn’t the right move here. ![]()
I did. What should I rate it? It wasnt hard at all. I think the zwift and trainerroad surveys should be the same for conistency right?
Just rate it how it felt. ![]()
Let me know if you get adaptations afterward, and I’ll take a look.
Changed it to moderate and got a few adaptions.
I’m seeing two rounds of adaptations now.
This one:
And this one:
I’m curious as to what prompted the second round.. ![]()
Regardless, things look good.
Moving forward, don’t forget about Workout Alternates if you need to change thing up!
I changed it to moderate. So does scoring it 5 out of 10 on zwift score it a 5 on TR? 5 on zwift is slightly challenging but on TR it all out.
I’m not certain that I buy into TRs decision not to publish the formula that converts the 10 point zwift rating to the 5 point TR rating scale.
But agree that if you select the RPE based on the words then it does work usually.
Feels like something did go wrong here though - if you selected 5 “Slightly Challenging” on zwift then this translates to “moderate” on TR in my experience.
Personally I think they should just publish the formula to make fault finding easier ![]()
Agreed. They should be the same for consistency.
I’m assuming that there is a Zwift-related reason they can’t use the 5 point scale - and I for one would hate it if TR moved to 10 points.
But I don’t see why TR can’t be transparent about it.
It would seem it would cause nothing but problems with the data which would cause issues with adaptions etc.
I have sometimes been given the same workout THREE times in a week! What I have been told when asking about this is that this is because that is the most productive workout based on my current PLs and the allotted time for the workout. There is always the option to change it manually, of course (either in time or PL), but the AI logic appears to be such that receiving the same workout multiple times in a week, or even over the course of a few weeks, is very possible.
They need to program it to not offer a duplicate…1000’s of workouts, but AI will give you the same one several times but allow you to choose an alternate with the same PL…seems like a glitch that should be remedied.
Might be wrong here, but rate the workout as a whole not just the interval. Somewhere here, a few years ago, I saw a post detailing how to rate a workout.
I experience a little bit of the duplicate workouts in the same week. I am also curious of the precision of the AI assessment, since many of the ( >1,000 ) workout parameters are nearly identical.
For now, it doesn’t bother me, since I have only seen it in recovery workouts.
Finished my workout this morning and some adaptions were offered, I took them. Opened the program tonight to see what I had on tap, it offered one adaption, it changed my thursday workout to the same as my tuesday? Why?
I quite like it when workouts adapt to another one I’ve don recently. There’s a bit of psychology in knowing I’ve already managed it and can push harder. It also allows an easier comparison of efforts post ride.
Can it be that second similar workout is a few days away and TR will most likely adapt again anyway?
