Most folk I think were down on their TT times but somehow despite being 5w weaker on a freezing night I was a second faster than my road bike time. I might not be the fastest but at least I’m consistent
I forgot my HR strap and used the watch on broadcast mode, whilst on review it looks like it came good after 1:24 (probably when I warmed up) I couldn’t pace on it.
I had that hike a bike experience in Colorado on the continental divide trail last summer. Ended up on about 4-5 miles of single track I had no business being on with 37cm handlebars lol. Fortunately it was so dang scenic I didn’t mind several miles of walking in my gravel shoes at 9000’ elevation one bit!
36 miles and 5700’ of perfection. Love these trails and this Epic 8. So much fun. Have a lot of progress to make on my mtb skills but it’s coming along. Mountain is Mt St Helens.
A bit happier with that this week, I still need to learn to suffer more again. A 40s pb on tonight’s Road Bike TT but too much of the time was spent at a comfortable threshold and only the last minute was Z5 power. I think I paid to much attention to my HR which said more time in HR Z5.
Pre-ride of the Cascade Gravel Big course. 77 miles and about 6700’ outside Bend/Sisters, OR. By far the roughest and most technical gravel course I’ve been on. So glad I pre-rode as I’ll be racing on my S-works Epic 8 in lieu of my gravel bike with 50’s. Swapping the MTB to sub tools and a 38T chain ring. Should be significantly faster and more enjoyable. Very little flats on the course where the drop bars would come out ahead, and the MTB will be a little faster on the climbs and 10x faster on most the descents.
I was going to do a lollipop type loop but one of the roads was closed for a fair / market. Turned around a did a couple of laps around some homes and farmland.
