I am thinking of replacing my Saris H3 which is already old and is having some connectivity issues lately. Any better choice in terms of connectivity, road feeling…?
I’ve had a Wahoo Kickr for a few years and it has never missed a beat. My wife also has the newest model and it is amazing. I’d recommend looking at GP Llama YouTube channel for excellent reviews on all things cycling tech.
If you have the space and don’t want the extra fuzz of putting your bike in and out all the time, consider looking at trainer bikes like the Kickr Bikes, Garmin Tacx Neo Bike, etc. They are also great for playing around with your bike fit.
If you are a regular zwifter, check for trainers with Zwift protocol compatibility. Basically all trainer bikes have it these days, and all current trainers should be at least Zwift cog compatible.
If you just want accurate power data for your training with no extras, most entry models will serve this purpose these days. As said before, GPLama provides by far the most trusted and well established reviews of a broad section of the trainer market, also covering the growing offers from Chinese manufacturers. If you don’t want to watch all the videos, his website also has all the data.
Another Kickr here with zwift ride which is great
Good luck
You might consider rollers if you really want to simulate riding outdoors. I’ve been training on Inside Ride e-motion rollers for over a decade, they have a model with smart resistance that works with zwift, etc. Terrible marketing company, but their products are next level. There is a bit of a learning curve if you haven’t ridden rollers before, but it’s quick and it’s a completely different (ie better) riding experience compared to a stationary trainer. Some of the trainers with rocker plates can give you a little taste of what it’s like, but it’s nothing like riding on a floating set of rollers (in my opinion).
