Thought I would need ANT+ to connect laptop and phone simultaneously, which I don’t have. I do have a Wahoo head unit though, but I assume this means I have to keep wattage within range myself as the head unit doesn’t interact with my KICKR, right?
If exporting as a .zwo works, that could be an option too. Found a Chrome plugin which creates .zwo from TR workouts. But is it recognized as the planned workout when uploaded by Z after finishing?
Where do you run zwift?
You only need ant+ to if you have only one device like a laptop to pair Z by BT or ant+ to the laptop for instance and TR by the connection not used. If you have Z connected to that device by BT and dont wanna buy a ant+ pen you can use TR on your phone by BT also. But for me buying an ant+ pen is worthy. With my PC in front minimizing TR bar and Z on windowed mode resized enough just to keep TR bar visible below its a good option and dont need to drain my phone baterie every WO.
That’s exactly how I do it. Once I’ve exported the workout, I edit the planned workout to outside workout. And when I’ve ridden the workout in Zwift, TR will associate it with the planned workout.
Looking forward to this feature dropping in January. I’ve been with TR since the fall of 2019 and resisted joining Zwift as well, principally as I was content with TR’s interface and didn’t want a second (and different) set of workout protocols for indoor riding.
The downside of TR has been maintaining focus on the longer sessions, which is OK when supplementing with YouTube or Netflix for Z2 or Tempo work but less easy to concentrate on separate media, when pushing on long sweetspot or threshold efforts.
Hopefully having Alp-du-Zwift to climb up as an incentive / goal will add a degree of competition to the workout and help me push a little harder for longer on those stretch workouts
Yep thats the same here. Love having a movie or a series top screen and minimized player below on the same screen just up front my head but any harder wo it gets hard to see anything that needs more attention.
Nate wrote “most likely in January” and today is Jan 5th. Also “most likely” in IT terms reads as “maybe, eventually, perhaps, hopefully …”, there are so many things, that could go wrong in the last Release Testphases.
