I just bought a used Wahoo Kickr Snap, which didn’t come with the through axel adapter. I’d like to use my disc bikes on this trainer, which have through axel’s (Wife’s tarmac, my venge).
I see Wahoo sells them for $80! Do I need theirs, or are there cheaper options for this adapter that would work just as well?

You don’t need the Wahoo one. CycleOps, Robert Axle Project, Kinetic and others offer compatible options.

You can use any adapter, but be sure to find the thread pitch that matches your specific bike. Wahoo’s is $80 because it includes all common thread pitches and, therefore, can work on any bike. I have a Kinetic and it was cheaper, but each thread pitch must be purchased separately (something to consider if you have multiple TA bikes with different thread pitches).

That’s one reason I like the CycleOps version. It covers the 2 most common pitches, for a better price than the Wahoo one.

Funny thing; the cycleops ends up being nearly as much as the Wahoo. Wahoo ships free so you end up paying $80.
CycleOps charges $50, plus a flat $15 to ship (ground!) and $5 in tax.

LOL, whoops. I ended up with mine in a larger order, so it wasn’t an issue.

Looks like the same skewer is available from many other vendors, and I bet some of them have free shipping at or around that point. Add a tube or some other spares and you can get it with little or no shipping.

Yes, they include the steel caps that are attached to their custom axle. They offer 3 versions now, so it is a bit more confusing, but [here are the ones for sale](https://www.saris.com/product/thru-axle-adapter).

By any chance do you have the standard axle skewer and the axle cap for the regular setup ? I bought a trainer second hand and was fully setup for pass through .

Sorry I’m being a bit thick. If I use a Kinetic Thru axle adapter on the Kickr snap do I use it without using the conversion end you get with the Kickr thru axle, i.e. both end caps on Kinetic directly on snap. Or, do I put the conversion piece on Snap and use the kinetic with the thread end into the conversion piece? No idea if I have just made sense.

That makes sense to me. But I have to say I’ve bot used the Kinetic axle myself, so I’m going off pictures and assumptions.

Put your best guess together and loosely assemble without full clamp force. Make sure the axle caps seat in the trainer cups well. Then you should be good.

Can confirm the kinetic traxle works exactly as described above, with kickr snap 🙂

Hm, I’m trying to use a CycleOps thru axle adapter on the Wahoo Kickr Snap and am running into issues. I had the same question as above–it seems like a different end cap might be necessary? Also, the cycleops thru axle adapter seems to be too long for the Wahoo Kickr Snap. Any advice?

Hi @SimonE1. I am trying to use the Kinetic Traxle with my Wahoo Kickr, and the Traxle appears to be too long for the Kickr. Could you send over a picture of your configuration? Thanks - much appreciated.

Hi there, I don’t have the snap any more I’m afraid. All I did however was use the snap at its widest setting ie wind the non-ds width adjuster all the way back out, and it fit perfectly. Hope that helps! 🙂

Ohh sorry @pastoye , I ve just realised you didn’t mention kickr snap specifically in your question, but rather normal kickr? If this is correct then I’ve no idea as I only tried the traxle on snap which worked perfectly for a number of years. It’ll work on a regular kickr too I’m sure, but then you’d just use whatever thru axle is on your bike anyway
