Volume based plateau? (Silly question?)

This might be a silly question but is it possible to attribute likely power figure top outs to different workout volumes?

For instance, if you rigidly stuck to Low volume over and over would you get to say…250W then basically have to move up to mid volume to see any further gains, and so on?

If this is correct, in any sense, is it possible to put a rough figure on that plateau?

Just musing… :slightly_smiling_face:

It is roughly true that you can only build your fitness or FTP so high based on your volume

However - that plateau is going to be so different for every person that I’m not sure it is possible to put any sort of figures around it such that low volume = N FTP, medium volume = N+40 FTP, etc. Everyone deals with stress differently and their body will hit limits based on their volume in different places.

As an easy example of why this is probably impossible - some people will perform better at medium volume than high volume as their body will start to break down at high volume. This can happen for a variety of reasons including past training history, age, genetic limitations, or even just an inability to recover
