Why do most of the standard vo2 max workouts have 20mins or more of vo2 work when joe friel recommends 10 to 15 mins total vo2 max time?
My guess is that V02max time is not the same thing as interval time. You won’t spend 100% of the interval time training your VO2max because it takes som time to get your heart rate up.
This is correct. There is a lag effect where your body covers the energy with anaerobic energy stores; it takes some time for your body to operate at a higher percentage of VO2 max (although this can be accelerated depending on the intensity of the interval)
