Which tool do you use to analyze a race course (XCM) if you can’t try it?
Look to YouTube and hopefully there is some race or course footage. Also, if you have the course file you can look at the elevation profile in Strava. This should give you an idea of key areas of the course. Particularly if there are pinch points where you get funneled into singletrack or significant climbs.
I race TTs and I do some preliminary analysis in www.mywindsock.com
Agree with MI-XC, if it’s a known course/trail network you can gain a heap of insight from YouTube.
Strava can be useful, but also hit and miss depending if races have been up or down segments in the past can greatly alter the times.
