@RCC I lost interest in road riding when I discovered that I’m lucky to live beside some incredible mountain bike trails. I had not been on a mtn bike since 1991, so I had no idea how awesome it is. These days I go for a 1–2.5hr mountain bike ride and come home feeling completely exhausted. When I was a roadie I would go out for at least 2-6hrs before returning home! My wife is happier since my riding doesn’t take up the entire day and I am having just as much fun as when I was a roadie. As I say, I have recently restarted TR because I was missing the fitness benefits of road riding, but apart from indoor trainer rides I don’t plan on riding outdoors anytime soon. Traffic as you say is a bit of a concern but not the main reason I have stopped road riding.
