Stride - Alex Dowsett

I signed up with a trial yesterday with the dedicated base program. Looks interesting with intervals midweek quite different to what i’m used to this time of year. I like the weekend set up - Saturday 2 hours @ 70-75%, Sunday a hilly sweetspot ride. I can have fun with that.

I also had a question and filled out the chat and Alex himself replied right away.

It estimates your FTP although still needs an ftp test during base programs. Reading lower than TR currently.

Its got mine spot on (well the same as WKO5 and what I think it is based on workouts etc)
No requirement for an FTP test for myself although it might depend on the sessions and data uploaded

Not surprised, TR seems a bit on the optimistic side once you have been through a few ftp detections but even if anyone doesnt agree with that sentiment, how are you so sure Stride is incorrect / low? Maybe Stride is giving you a value with a longer TTE, closer to ‘traditional’ threshold than aiFTP? Not a statement of fact just a thought on the difference.

Replied to my questions and report of a broken link straight away as well.

maybe I missed it and I have not signed on to find out, but from a quick look at their website it does not look like their platform does indoor trainer control of workouts. Is that correct? Then if so they are not comparing apple to apples. Trainer road has the trainer control thing down pat and then they have the analysis. So if you want trainer control you still need a second package thus ++$$

No.. that is not correct.

There is a workout player

You click on the activity on your calendar and it says something like load workout player.

as I said maybe I missed it and I did. I note that the workouts play from a phone app. Do they also have a desktop app to view a workout in progress or is it completely on the phone? I assume it also works for tablets in the same way? Frankly I just dropped in on the site and have not dug into every corner.

Looking at that screen grab, it looks like any TR user should be instantly familiar with it. Alex is not wrong when he says TR was the inspiration.
