Vo2 went up by about 5% in a month just doing the actual workouts rather than just whatever I wanted and an occasional prescribed workout.
maybe should have done this a long time ago…
Can you show your training history? Curious how it lines up.
Unless you’ve been getting tested daily in an actual lab that VO2max plot is not data it is the hallucination of an algorithm that has been fed your data.
Seems you may be finally feeding the Algorithm the data it needs then. Which plan are you on?
Nice @Jaredhoop !!!
Short Power Build - High Volume
No I am not doing regular Vo2 lab tests, I’m going by the Garmin estimation. While it’s not a lab test, from what I understand, it is a fairly good gauge. Another way I could put it is that my power has gone up without an increase in my heart rate on steady efforts such as Vo2 intervals
what’s the best way to do that? Screenshot? Or is there a better way?
Absolute accuracy may be questionable but trends are probably good.

Nice work! Follow the plan!! ![]()
Videos I’ve seen suggest that overall those (and similar) estimations aren’t miles off.
Personally I find Garmin thinks some pretty whacky things about my VO2 max though.
I would argue that I haven’t made any changes to my activity patterns that would cause a drop in VO2 max over the last 12 weeks. In fact, I hadn’t ever “trained” until within the last 12 weeks. Yes I’d ridden more or less frequently, but never in an intentional, structured, and methodical way.
To pour further water on Garmin’s attempts above, I did a lab test mid-August to establish baseline before training which put me at 61.5. It seems that for me Garmin’s just kind of waffling along doing its own thing. Maybe I’m just a terribly inefficient user of oxygen. (I sure hope not, that would really suck)
My point here (sorry it took me a while to get to it) is that there could be endless reasons Garmin thinks you’re trending one way or the other when you’re not, including, potentially, just spending more quality time at intensity. That seems to be what mine is snooping for.
that could be right. And I certanlybammjot just going by the garmin. Approximations, but I will say that I do think the structured stuff feels like I’m getting stronger. Maybe I’ll sneak in a ramp test and see if that’s showing a pop at all.
