I did this a few weeks ago, too, on my Specialized Epic Expert.
I’m no mechanical idiot — I’ve rebuilt engines (Mazda Wankel rotaries), framed houses, done electrical and plumbing work. The works.
I blame it on me moving quick and being distracted. A terrible combo. Anyway, I went out and rode on the thing and besides being super noisy, the chain got thrown into the spokes and broke two of them. Ended up having to get the wife to pick me up.
The trick to fork service is making sure you put the lowers back on in the correct orientation…at least I caught it before I put it back on the bike🤣
The bottle cage is on upside down. I’ve done this before too. ![]()

Just made a doh tonight.
I cleaned out the old Peatys sealant from my front winter wheel. The tyre went back on very easy and I filled it with Orange Seal. It never seated 1st time however (unlike the rear last night), so I rotated the wheel to encourage it to seat. Doh, I hadn’t noticed the tyre was caught behind the valve and sealant spilled out. I lifted the tyre on to the valve base thinking it would be fine topped the sealant up. Double doh! More Spillage
This time I lifted it over completely and the tyre sealed instantly. Doh, I should have done that in the first place!
